About F2Pool

F2Pool is one of the oldest and largest Bitcoin mining pools in the world. Founded in May 2013 by Mao Shixing (known as "Discus Fish") and Wang Chun in Beijing, China, F2Pool was among the first mining pools to emerge during the early professionalization of Bitcoin mining. The name "F2Pool" derives from its original Chinese name, "Yu Chi" (fish pool). The pool has mined blocks on the Bitcoin network continuously for over a decade.

F2Pool supports mining for multiple proof-of-work cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Litecoin. The pool consistently ranks among the top five Bitcoin mining pools by hash rate, typically commanding 10-15% of the global Bitcoin network hash rate. F2Pool operates on a PPS+ (Pay Per Share Plus) payout model, which pays miners for both block rewards and transaction fees.

Wang Chun, F2Pool's co-founder, became a well-known figure in the Bitcoin community. F2Pool notably inscribed the headline "NYTimes 09/Apr/2020 With $2.3T Injection, Fed's Plan Far Exceeds 2008 Rescue" in a Bitcoin block, echoing Satoshi Nakamoto's original inscription of a financial headline in Bitcoin's genesis block. The company is headquartered in Hong Kong and operates globally, having adapted to China's 2021 mining ban by supporting miners in other jurisdictions.
