Terms of Service

1. What this site is

Bitcoin Companies (bitcoincompanies.co) is a public leaderboard tracking companies that hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets. We aggregate data from public sources (SEC filings, press releases, on-chain data) and allow companies to voluntarily verify their holdings.

2. No account required

You can browse the entire leaderboard, map, and company profiles without creating an account. No personal information is collected from visitors. No KYC. No tracking cookies for advertising.

3. Company registration

Companies can optionally register to claim and verify their profile. Registration requires a professional email address and a small Bitcoin payment ($0.50 in BTC) processed through BTCPay Server (self-hosted, non-custodial). We do not collect or store payment details beyond the on-chain transaction confirmation.

4. Authentication

You can sign in with Google (OAuth) or email and password. We never share your credentials with third parties. Sessions are standard Rails encrypted cookies.

5. Data we display

Company data shown on the leaderboard comes from publicly available sources: SEC filings, corporate announcements, on-chain blockchain data (via Arkham Intelligence and blockchain explorers), and voluntary company submissions. We do our best to keep data accurate but make no guarantees. If you spot an error, contact us.

6. Privacy

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate:

• Visitors: no personal data collected, no advertising cookies
• Registered companies: professional email, company name, domain, voluntarily submitted Bitcoin addresses
• Analytics: we use Plausible (no cookies, no cross-site tracking, EU-hosted)

We do not sell, share, or monetize personal data. Ever.

7. Payments

We accept both Bitcoin and fiat payments. Registration uses an on-chain Bitcoin payment via BTCPay Server (self-hosted, non-custodial). Reviews use Lightning Network payments via Phoenixd (self-hosted, self-custodial). Company subscriptions are processed through Stripe (fiat). We never store credit card details ourselves.

8. User content

If you submit reviews or company information, you retain ownership of your content. By submitting, you grant us a license to display it on the site. We reserve the right to remove content that is spam, abusive, or clearly false.

9. No financial advice

Nothing on this site constitutes financial, investment, or legal advice. The leaderboard is informational only. Do your own research before making any financial decisions.

10. Availability

This is a side project run by one person. The site may go down, have bugs, or display incorrect data. We do our best, but there are no uptime guarantees or SLAs.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll update the date at the top. Continued use of the site means you accept the new terms.
